Handré Pollard is one of the most recognizable and marketable rugby players in the world. The Springbok flyhalf has secured a long-term deal with Nike International and has partnered with other top brands like TAG Heuer, Fabiani, and Land Rover. Known for his physicality and precise kicking, Pollard was the top point scorer at the 2019 Rugby World Cup with 69 points, including 22 in the Springboks' iconic win over England in the final. He played a pivotal role in South Africa’s series win against the British & Irish Lions in 2021 and their 2023 Rugby World Cup victory in France. Over 80 Test matches for his country, Pollard has accumulated an impressive 772 points.
Pollard's success began early when he helped South Africa U20 win the 2012 U20 World Championship, contributing 15 of his team’s 22 points in the final against New Zealand. In 2014, he captained the Junior Boks and was named World Rugby Junior Player of the Year. He spent six years with the Pretoria-based Bulls, earning 59 Super Rugby caps and leading the team as captain in 2019.
Off the field, Pollard has continued to build his legacy. He signed a lucrative contract with French club giants Montpellier, making him one of the highest-paid rugby players globally. In 2022, he moved to Leicester Tigers, who were the reigning English Premiership champions at the time. Despite initially missing out on the Springboks' original 2023 World Cup squad, Pollard was called up during the pool stage as an injury replacement. He went on to kick a crucial match-winning penalty in the semi-final against England and scored all 12 of South Africa’s points in their final victory over the All Blacks. Pollard finished the tournament with a flawless goal-kicking record.
In 2024, Pollard continued to shine, playing a key role in an exceptional Springbok season where they defeated the All Blacks twice and clinched the Rugby Championship title.
