Kay Firth-Butterfield is the CEO of Good Tech Advisory. In 2024, she was honored as a TIME 100 Impact Awardee, a Who's Who Emerging Innovator, and recognized in both Who’s Who in America and Forbes 50 Over 50.

Kay is the former Head of Artificial Intelligence and member of the Executive Committee at the World Economic Forum, and is widely regarded as one of the world’s foremost experts on the governance of AI. A Barrister, former Judge, and Professor, she combines deep expertise in law, strategic implementation of AI in business and public service and responsible design, development and use of AI. She also talks about the Geopolitics of AI and climate. Her passion is ensuring that humanity benefits from emerging technologies—especially artificial intelligence.

In 2014, she became the world’s first Chief AI Ethics Officer.

Kay is the author of books on Human Rights, AI, and Modern Slavery. Her latest book "Co-Existing with AI" will be released by Wiley in November 2025.
