Ndaba Mandela is a global advocate, author, and speaker who continues the legacy of his grandfather, Nelson Mandela, with a message of hope, unity, and African empowerment. As the co-founder and chairman of the Africa Rising Foundation, Ndaba is committed to reshaping the narrative of Africa through education, entrepreneurship, and creative expression.
Raised in Soweto, South Africa, Ndaba spent much of his youth under the guidance of Nelson Mandela after the end of apartheid. He witnessed first-hand the challenges of post-conflict rebuilding and the enduring power of forgiveness, dignity, and visionary leadership. His 2018 memoir, Going to the Mountain, recounts personal lessons learned from his grandfather and has touched audiences worldwide.
Ndaba has served as a UN AIDS Global Ambassador and spokesperson for HIV/AIDS awareness, continuing Mandela’s fight for access, equality, and public health justice. He is also a board member of the South African Journal of Human Rights, a role through which he champions issues of education, youth empowerment, and social inclusion.
As a keynote speaker, Ndaba inspires audiences across the globe with talks on leadership, legacy, resilience, and the role of youth in shaping the future of Africa and the world. He has addressed audiences at the United Nations, Fortune 500 companies, universities, and global summits, advocating for an Africa defined not by its struggles but by its immense potential.
Ndaba believes in shifting mindsets from dependence to empowerment and building bridges between generations and cultures. His work reflects a deep understanding of the past, a commitment to the present, and an unrelenting optimism for what lies ahead.
